Service Requirements (formerly Service Stipulation):

Serve 45 days of active duty in a Navy clerkship or under school orders during each year in the program. Serve one year of active duty in a non-training status for each year of scholarship participation, with a minimum of three years on active duty.

Who Can Apply:

US Citizen; enrolled in/letter of acceptance from an accredited graduate program in the US or Puerto Rico (varies by specialty).


Applications are accepted throughout the year at any time. However, the best time to apply for a four year scholarship is the Fall before the year you plan to attend school.

Repayment/Scholarship terms:

Qualifying students receive full tuition for school, a monthly stipend and reimbursement for books and required equipment and fees.

Amount of repayment per year of service:

US Navy HPSP can provide tuition assistance for up to four years of school and provide you with a monthly stipend paid directly to you of $2200. $20,000 signing bonus (Medicine and Dentistry only)

Must work with a Navy Medical Programs Recruiter. No on-line application exists.

Additional Information/Comments:

Upon completion of professional school, the individual must accept assignment on active duty in the Navy.
