Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine (Internal Medicine) |
|
The APCCMPD has issued
recommendations to guide
applicants when completing the 2024-25 MyERAS® application and for program directors who will review them. We have encouraged APCCMPD Member Program Directors to share these recommendations with their
IM Program Director Colleagues for dissemination to
future applicants. The APCCMPD would also like to share this resource with AAMC with the aim of sharing this with applicants.
The APCCMPD includes leaders from Critical Care Medicine (CCM), Pulmonary Medicine, and Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine (PCCM), representing 98% of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education
(ACGME) accredited fellowships in
these specialties. Its mission is to promote excellence in training and to mentor future pulmonary and critical care medicine educators. Additionally, the APCCMPD provides a communication channel among
fellowship programs and stakeholder organizations.
The APCCMPD has a vested interest in all aspects of fellowship recruitment and, in May 2024, reconvened an ERAS Signaling Task Force to offer recommendations on the MyERAS® application for the 2024-2025
recruitment cycle. In 2023, the Association of
American Medical Colleges (AAMC) made significant changes to the MyERAS® application. The changes allowed fellowship applicants to indicate potential geographic preferences for programs of interest and
provided a revised template for applicants to
describe their most meaningful past experiences. The goal is for program directors and fellowship selection committees to use this information to conduct a more comprehensive review of applications, helping them
identify applicants who will contribute
more effectively to their program's goals and mission.
